Michlene came to live at our girls home the summer of 2016 when she was 15 years old. She is originally from Plaisance in the south of Haiti, which is where she was living before she came to us. Her mother became pregnant with her at a very young age and she did not know who the father was. Her mother lived on the streets with Michlene and her sister for many years. Before Michlene came to us, Miss Kim had been down in Plaisance when an older woman, her grandmother, came and used if she could bring a young girl back to Carries with her to live at the girl’s home. Ms Lynn’s family had wanted to help her for many years and knew this was a great opportunity for her. Michlene has thrived and is so thankful for be able to be in school; her grandmother is so proud of how well she has done with us.
