Joy came to us in March 2018 when she was only a few months old. Her mother was only 18 and her father was in prison and her mother was incredibly thin and malnourished. When she came to our gate, Miss Kim sat with the mother and saw how thin and hungry the baby way. She was around 4 months old but looked like a newborn and had not eaten in 3 days; her mother was unable to nurse her because she was too malnourished to produce any milk. We offered to let her mother stay at our single mom's home while Joy got healthy and gained weight but she left after only a few days and has never returned.

Joy is a serious little girl but doing very well and loves to play with all the other kids.
